United States Trustee Program Issues Guidance Protecting CARES Act Recovery Rebates

Last Updated: Friday, April 24, 2020

On April 7, 2020, the United States Trustee Program (USTP) issued guidance to Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 Trustees regarding recovery rebates paid to debtors under the CARES Act. Under the CARES Act, eligible individuals are entitled to receive $1,200 per individual or $2,400 per married couple filing jointly, with an additional $500 paid for each qualifying child under the age of 17.

The USTP guidance highly discourages Chapter 7 trustees from administrating recovery rebates. The Salkin Law Firm is here to assist you in keeping your recovery rebates while assisting you in gaining a fresh start debt-free.
